How Illinois alimony works

Yearly maintenance = (Payor's net yearly income * 0.333) - (Payee's net yearly income * 0.25). The total amount received by the payee (payee's net yearly income + maintenance) cannot exceed 40% of the combined net yearly income of both spouses. If it does, the maintenance amount is reduced.
